Turweston Aerodrome is a stunning general aviation aerodrome on the borders of Buckinghamshire and Northamptonshire. I would recommend visiting on a sunny summer’s day and visiting the stunning Flight Deck Café. They do an amazing coffee and walnut cake, and I have heard that the Dundee cake is one of the best this side of Hadrian’s wall!

Recommended spots for aircraft photography

(Map pins are labelled with respective number)

  1. The end of Runway 27 is excellent when 27 is the active runway, on a hot day, watch out for heat haze, but there should not be too much of a problem with it. There is a small car park next to the wind sock.
  2. The Flight Deck Café have a lovely balcony which faces over the runway, and is perfect for shots of flying aircraft, however, on a warm day, the heat haze will prohibit photos of any aircraft on the ground.
  3. This is where one can find all based aircraft and it’s only a short walk from point 2.
