Today was quite hot. Maybe that’s an understatement…
How about very hot? I think that works better and it is far more accurate! I thought maybe shorts was a good idea quite early, around 10 or so, but when I went to put them on, it was only 18C in the shade and I did not want to be cold at Turweston (forgetting that there is no shade). So I opted for the jeans. Bad idea. Not even the greatest politicians or lawyers could say I was wrong with that.
Turweston was a hive of activity today, with some amazing classic pieces of aviation. These came in the form of a Boeing Stearman, and a Luscombe Silvaire (before you ask the Spitfire was a replica). The Spitfire, however, was still a beautiful piece of engineering and although he left later in the day, I was not there to catch him as I was half way home at the point I saw him flying out of the circuit.
There were some interesting aircraft around about including D- EDGR, a Robin DR400 who is based at Bicester. Some others included my first flex wing microlight at Turweston, G-HOLE and a new livery for G-ZERO.
As I did not go to the hangars, all aircraft are active
I saw the following aircraft:
- D-EDQR (1975 Robin DR-400/180R Remorqueur)
G-AJKB (1946 Luscombe 8E Silvaire Deluxe)
