Yesterday’s main job unfortunately was painting the shed and garage. I seriously cannot think of something less fun. Turns out, my initial concerns were both unfounded and stupid as actually it was good fun. We hadn’t kept an eye on the clock and our first cup of tea arrived at 12:20. We had resolved to painting the garage before lunch and by the time we had finished it was quarter past one. After finishing the garage we decided to go to the Chip Shop. This was before we questioned ourselves on its state of opening. After looking it up, the chippy is closed on a Sunday anyway. We decided that Turweston was perhaps a reasonable shout for lunch and that we could sit on the Flight Deck Café balcony.

As usual, the lunch was amazing, I could recommend the Tuna Melt panini to anyone. We sat on the balcony and watched the comings, goings and bouncings. I have not been to 09 in about 3 months and so could do with some practice at some point! The only easily capturable action was from G-BORK and G-BZUY, as both were doing circuits.

The main attraction yesterday, unusually cam in the form of rotary winged aircraft. G-SENS and G-TVHD both came in for refuelling with TVHD doing a rotors running refuel. Both had come from Silverstone, and as the registration suggests, G-TVHD was a filming helicopter, drafted in to film Silverstone’s Moto GP event. There was also a Piper PA-46-500, N500LU which I had suspected had come in for the Moto GP, but as he left earlier than expected, I was probably wrong.

After the dash around Turweston we painted the shed, and unfortunately we used up a whole 5 litre can on just three quarters of the shed. More annoying was the fact we had only done one coat and you need to do three…

These were the aircraft I saw
